The Aquatic Ecosystem looked unhealthy, the water looked pretty clear but the coral reefs looked to be lifeless, like they haven't been getting enough nutrients. I didn't see any living species around the coral in the short clips during the video, but I'm sure the coral is part of the community. The coral's nitch is to be a home and protector from carnivores and omnivores for smaller species.
Currently one third of the 700 reef-buildings are close to extinction, probably killing many populations. The oceans climate is gradually getting warmer which is making nutrients a limiting factor and increasing in deadly coral-bleaching. Burned fossil fuels have increased the acid in the seas and dissolving this in CO makes the pH level lower. All those things put the Aquatic Ecosystem in danger of extinction.
My personal connection isn't to the Aquatic Ecosystem it's self but more toward all water ecosystems. I like to go to the beach, go boating and go fishing. Without a healthy water ecosystem I can't do those things. Pollution is making the ecosystem unhealthy looking. Also I like sea food, but if humans fish too much then they are messing with the delicate food chains and food webs. Humans are a density-independent limiting factor in all ecosystems.
Humans play a very important part in this ecosystem and every other ecosystem, Humans burning fossil fuels, global warming and fertilizing farms add risk this delicate biome. If we don't work to save it then we won’t have anything left eventually. We would have wiped out one of the biggest biomes, since the oceans make up 75% of the earth.
I don't think most humans understand how much their actions effect on the Aquatic Ecosystems. Every kind of pollution effects these populations. Some humans might not even care because they don't think it has anything to do with them so why bother to do something helpful for the biome. They affect the water-cycle most, because weather the pollution is in the air or in a liquid it is picked up and carried to make a cloud and then precipitate on earth. Humans don't realize every move they make affects species, which effects the population, which affects the community and so on.
Dear Mr. Whipp,
I'm sorry this is late, but I'm in Nashville right now and it is about 11:15 (12:15 Cincinnati time) and I just got access to a computer because the blogger didn't work right on my iPod. I hope I did this right because honestly I didn't totally understand what I was supposed to do. Well have a great day tomorrow:)
